Arkansas Children’s Hospital is a 359 bed, trauma 1, teaching hospital. www.arcchildrens.org MUST TEST NEGATIVE FOR NICOTINE CVICU, OH PICU is a 30 bed unit. 3 years of nursing experience is required. Peds CV is preferred, but not required. Manager will consider an adult CV RN. Travelers are not always placed with the lower acuity patients. Travelers will not take a fresh post-op due to the graduate nurse training program orientation needs. Floating is required within the ICU cluster (NICU, PICU, Burn PICU). Travelers are first to float. Nurse/Patient Ratios: 1:1 for ICU, 1:2-3 for Intermediate Ancillary Assistance: CNA/PCT – Yes. 2 PCTS per shift. 24/7 Intensivist on unit. The unit also has their own specific code team. Strict unit policy; must waste narcotic within 2 hours. Residents, med students and nursing students will only be assigned to the PCU acuity patients in the unit. RNs should expect 2-3 days of orientation and specialty testing for the facility. ACH Dress Code must be followed and is available in “Client Documents” on the Compliance tab of this requisition. EMR is EPIC and Pyxis is the medication system. Schedule is manager/scheduler driven and every other weekend is required. No on call; holidays are required, as needed. Patient population (diagnoses): All congenital heart defects, heart failure, cardiac transplant, dysrhythmias, CRRT (not usually assigned to travelers), PD, etc. Unit will soon have VAD and Impella. No balloon pumps in the unit. ECMO experience preferred. Unit uses intracardiac lines. Age range is neonatal to adult. Average length of patient stay is 15 days. Visitation details: 2 parents can stay @ the bedside Patient Schooling Process: Child Life & Education specialists actively involved in evaluating each patient for unique school/education needs during prolonged hospitalization Equipment: Pyxis with bar code scanning, pharmacy dose, GE, Servo and ECMO.
